10K School Giveaway

We have emailed Primary, Intermediate, and Secondary Schools in the Lower Hutt region asking them to submit a proposal for a project that could benefit from a $10,000 grant.

We have selected our three finalists, and from 10th–30th August, it’s over to you to cast your vote and help decide which project receives the $10,000 grant!

The winning school will be drawn end of August, and will receive $10,000, while the two runner up schools will each receive $2,500 towards their proposed projects.

*voting is pro rated against school roll size.

Waterloo School
Bike Track 
Waterloo School is enthusiastic about building a dedicated bike track on their school field. The track will see extensive use during school hours, as well as on evenings and weekends by families cycling and scootering together. Delivery of the bike track project will also include a 30-bike fleet, to enable those who lack access to their own bicycles to take part in the valuable new experience alongside vital road safety lessons for all. 

Wainuiomata Primary School 
Junior Playground 
After years of heavy use, the much-loved junior playground at Wainuiomata Primary School has reached the end of its functional life. To meet the needs of both the school and wider community, Wainuiomata Primary School would like to replace the junior playground to create a safe, inclusive and high-quality play opportunity for tamariki. Frequently utilised by local families outside of school hours, delivering a new play infrastructure would be a key equity lever to support wellbeing and resilience to those who live in the area. 

Tui Glen School 
Library 
Rehomed after roll growth, the current library space at Stokes Valley’s Tui Glen School functions as both a library and teacher resource room, loosing its bustling heart for literacy and discovery.
Tui Glen School would like to invest in creating an updated library space that is welcoming, inspires students and encourages love for learning again. The new space would include flexible seating, power and connectivity, zoning for quiet and collaborative areas, and showcase student artwork to brighten the area.
